Mayor Byrne Congratulates State Champions

Two local netball teams have been crowned State Champions, with Hills Shire Mayor Dr Michelle Byrne congratulating the juniors on a remarkable achievement.

Mayor Byrne met with the recently crowned champions from the Baulkham Hills Netball Association’s Under 12s and Under 14s side at Wellgate Avenue, Kellyville.

“Netball is an incredibly popular sport in our Shire. You only have to take a drive out to Wellgate Avenue on a Saturday to see hundreds of locals participating in the sport they love,” Mayor Byrne said.

“I’m incredibly proud of their efforts and thrilled to know that we have some exceptionally talented and committed youngsters playing netball in our Shire.”

“To be crowned the best netball team in the state is a huge achievement. Tens of thousands of girls play netball every weekend and we can proudly boast that we have some of the best players in the state.”

Mayor Byrne said the achievement was also a credit to the hardworking parents and volunteers.

“Weekend sport is only as good as the volunteers who work hard behind the scenes to make it happen. I’d like to commend all who are involved in the Baulkham Hills Netball Association.”
