Orange Blossom Festival has ‘something for everyone’ says Mayor Keane

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Clr Yvonne Keane, met with community stage performers – plus Pippa the OBF mascot – to launch this year’s Orange Blossom Festival. A massive fun family event held over two days in September, the Orange Blossom Festival celebrates all things community.

Mayor Keane said Orange Blossom Festival is a great way for residents to connect with each other and their community.

“What I love about Orange Blossom Festival is that it is the one community festival that has literally something for everyone,” Mayor Keane said.

“For me it’s an iconic Hills event and has been an annual favourite ever since I was a child. I can recall being super-excited to meet Australian Olympic swimmer and super star, Lisa Curry, who was an ambassador in the 80s,” she said.

Mayor Keane said the iconic festival ticks all the boxes for a connected, creative and spectacular community.

“Most of all, I am looking forward to presenting the Locals for Locals Awards and acknowledging those people and organisations who give so much to our community every day,” Mayor Keane said.

“And I encourage everyone to come and see the amazing creative talent we have right here in the Hills – performing live across both days on our Local Blooms stage,” she said.

“I’m just so excited about this year’s event. The OBF is truly is an event for everyone in our community and, as a parent, I am especially excited about to some of the magical activities and programs for kids, such as the roving dinosaurs and massive fireworks display.”

“As well, for the first time ever, we’ve got a Liberty swing coming to ensure all our children feel included,” she said.

To celebrate the refurbishment of the Powerhouse Discovery Centre, a vintage shuttle bus will run from the Showground to the centre across the weekend.

Roving entertainment, food trucks, and active zest fitness area, fun-filled kids’ zone, markets, live entertainment, community stalls, fireworks finale and much more are all on offer at this year’s Orange Blossom Festival.
