Hills Baseball Team Off To World Series

A representative team of junior Hills baseball players are on their way to the United States to compete against the best Little League teams from across the globe.

Hills Shire Mayor Dr Michelle Byrne congratulated The Hills Junior Baseball Association Little League team on winning the National Championships in Lismore earlier this month, qualifying them for the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

“This is an outstanding achievement by the Hills Junior Baseball Association and it’s a credit to all the coaches, players and parents for creating a positive team spirit,” Mayor Byrne said.

“It’s great to see that these boys have come together after being selected from their club sides. Their story is an inspiring one. They only just scraped into the National Championships and everyone had written them off as easy beats.”

“But they caught everyone by surprise and now they’re off to compete on the biggest possible stage they can at their age.”

Mayor Byrne said that Baseball had a large following in The Hills and Council was responding by investing in another baseball diamond at Caddies Creek Reserve.

“We want to see more kids taking up baseball and excelling on the national stage.”

“On behalf of The Hills, I’d like to congratulate the team and wish them all the best at the World Series in August. We are proud of you.”
