Hawkesbury Leisure and Learning Centre

The Hawkesbury Leisure and Learning Centre will be officially launched on Tuesday, 22 March opening its doors to the community to explore and use its many new facilities.

The $2 million construction of the Hawkesbury Learning and Leisure Centre has seen an extension to the previous building (formerly known as the Richmond Senior Citizens Centre), creating a multi-purpose activity spaces including a wet-area/art studio and a dividable activity hall with a sprung-wooden floor to accommodate exercise classes, dancing and other physical activities. The activity hall now has a removable wall allowing for one large open space and each activity space incorporates a storage room and kitchenette.

The refurbishment has also created a space for a senior’s café, an informal lounge and reading area, a small audio-visual theatrette together with the existing technology room.

“This facility is set to become a centre piece for a wide range of activities. It is a place to bring people of all ages together,” said Mayor Kim Ford.

“This refurbishment has updated the old Seniors Centre and improved its functionality. It has created a more contemporary facility which can better respond to the changing needs of our residents,” said the Mayor.

The Hawkesbury Leisure and Learning Centre will be managed by Peppercorn Services Inc. They are currently taking bookings for this great new facility which can be hired by community groups for events,

classes and the like. For more information or bookings call (02) 4578 2072.
