It was a night of drums and South American dancing at Castle Hill RSL on July 14 as community members helped Norwest Sunrise Rotary Club raise funds for its Medicos Bolivia Project.

Organiser Daisy Montana worked with dancers and musicians from Latin America including Bolivia and Uruguay to put on a festival of fun.

Guest speaker was Helen D0dshon from Open Heart International which has implemented projects in 15 countries including Cochabamba Bolivia to provide free life-saving surgery for poor residents who could not afford it.

Ms Montana said that since 2016 the volunteer cardiothoracic surgeons and nurses from Open Heart International have trained more than 60 medical personnel and operated on 10 Bolivians from low socio-economic backgrounds.

A team is heading out again in September this year.
