Expressions of Interest for Community Representation on Council Committees

Expressions of Interest are invited from suitably qualified members of the community to act as community representatives on the committees outlined below. Community members are generally appointed to committees on the basis of their industry knowledge and experience, technical skills and/or their ability to interpret the common interests of residents. Human Services Advisory Committee
Community representation – Seven (7) Community appointments

This Committee has been delegated (by Council) the task of providing advice and assistance in the development and drafting of a Human Services Strategy linked with the Hawkesbury Community Strategic Plan 2013 – 2032. Members will provide advice on consultative strategies for inviting submissions, assist in the identification of community indicators to measure progress in the improvement and well-being of residents of the Hawkesbury and assist Council staff to coordinate an integrated human services planning framework. Meetings are held a minimum of four times per year. Hawkesbury Civics and Citizenship Committee
Community representation – Three (3) Community appointments

This Committee facilitates the selection of award recipients for several awards including but not limited to; Australia Day Awards and the Hawkesbury Sports Awards. It reviews the criteria for each of the award systems and makes recommendations on changes to systems, actively encourages nominations from the community for the awards programs to further enhance the quality and quantity of submissions Council receives and assists, when requested, with recommendations for special civic or community celebrations.

Hawkesbury Sustainability Advisory Committee
Community representation – Four (4) Community appointments

This Committee was established to provide a forum for community representatives, Councillors and Council Officers to focus on sustainability issues and to ensure a coordinated approach to the development, implementation and evaluation of Council’s grant funded sustainability projects and other Council approved sustainability initiatives. Committee membership will also include the appointment of one (1) representative from each of the Department of Environment and Heritage, Department of Primary Industries and Western Sydney University. Meetings are held a minimum of twice per year. Waste Management Advisory Committee
Community representation – Two (2) Community appointments

This Committee provides Council with advice about information, research, analysis and public awareness strategies and options for future waste management in the Hawkesbury. Meetings are held a minimum of twice per year. Heritage Advisory Committee
Community representation – Eight (8) Community appointments

This Committee provides Council with advice on grant applications, recommendations and management issues, heritage listings, Heritage Week events and community awareness of heritage matters. Meetings are held a minimum of twice per year. Floodplain Risk Management Advisory Committee
Community representation – Five (5) Community appointments

This Committee provides advice to Council about information, research and analysis on the nature and degree of flood risk, measures and standards necessary to minimise flood risk, public awareness strategies and development of a flood risk management plan. Meetings are held a minimum of six times per year. Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee
Community representation – Three (3) Community appointments

This Committee provides independent assurance and assistance to Council on risk management, control, governance and external accountability responsibilities. Meetings are held a minimum of four times per year. Hawkesbury Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee
Community representation – Nine (9) Community appointments

This Committee has been delegated (by Council) the task of providing advice and assistance in the drafting of a Hawkesbury Access and Inclusion Plan. The Committee will provide advice to Council staff on strategies for eliminating barriers which prevent residents and visitors from participating fully in community and civic life, and raise awareness of the importance of creating an accessible built environment and inclusive civil society. Meetings are held a minimum of four times per year.
