Conservation Management Plan for Thompson Square

Council has recently engaged Heritage Architects Lucas Stapleton Johnson to prepare a Conservation Management Plan for Thompson Square, Windsor along with a heritage impact statement of the Windsor Bridge replacement project.

The preparation of the Conservation Management Plan has been commissioned by Council with partial funding from the Office of Environment & Heritage to summarise the historical and geographical context of the Thompson Square Conservation Area, its history, fabric, research potential, and importance to the community.

It will also accurately define the Conservation Area and consider if the current boundaries of the Conservation Area are required to be adjusted or changed to more accurately reflect the historical significance of Thompson Square.

The Conservation Management Plan will analyse documentary and physical evidence to determine the nature, extent and degree of significance of the Conservation Area, which will then allow the development of a conservation policy to guide management of the Square.

It is expected that the preparation of the Conservation Management Plan will be completed by mid-2018.
