A concept proposal for the development of new sports stadium at O’Connell Street in Parramatta will be on exhibition for community consultation.
The Department of Planning and Environment is keen to hear the community’s views on the concept proposal for:
a new sports stadium for up to 30,000 patrons and a playing pitch
five levels of premium box and terrace seating with function, lounge and suite areas
flood lighting and video screens
rooms and facilities for teams, media and administration staff
keeping an additional 20,000 square metres of land for future entertainment and community uses.
parking for approximately 500 cars and access for transport
public domain and landscaping works.
As part of the proposal, Venues NSW is also seeking approval to start the first stage of the proposed development.
Stage 1 proposes the demolition of the existing Parramatta Stadium and Parramatta Swimming Centre and site preparation and stabilisation works, including levelling the site back to ground level.
A spokesperson for the Department of Planning and Environment said the local community always has an opportunity to share their views.
“Community consultation is an integral part of the planning process and the applicant will have to respond to the feedback we receive,” the spokesperson said.
“This feedback is taken into consideration as part of the assessment.
“It’s easy to participate by going online and we encourage everyone to take a look and have their say.”
