Bushwalking and Snakebites

With the hot spring weather upon us, snakes are certainly out and about in the Hawkesbury region. Summer is also the time that many locals like to get out and explore our surrounding national parks and rivers.

The Hawkesbury Visitor Information Centre now stocks an excellent Snake Bite Kit, available for only $19. The kit includes an emergency action card, two heavy compression bandages, two triangle bandages and detailed snake bite first aid instructions. These same instructions are used in wilderness first aid courses throughout Australia.

This compact kit is a sensible choice for anybody heading outdoors to enjoy the holidays.

To buy the Snake Bite Kit, and find out more about the range of bushwalks in the Hawkesbury, drop into the Visitor Information Centre at Ham Common (opposite the RAAF base), 328 Hawkesbury Valley Way, Richmond, open seven days, visit www. discoverthehawkesbury.com.au or call (02) 4560 4620 for more information.
