Awards recognise our unsung heroes

Do you know someone whose community efforts are worthy of recognition? Now is the time to nominate them for a Sydney Hills Community Contribution Award.

The Awards encompass all areas of community contribution with categories to recognise achievement in sport, education, arts, environment, community service and business.

Mayor of the Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne, said the awards are a great way to recognise unsung local heroes.

“There are many unassuming locals who work tirelessly to make The Hills a great and safe place to live. Often these groups and individuals are too humble to seek recognition, so the Community Contribution Awards are a great time for their family, friends, colleagues, peers and community to put their names forward,” Mayor Byrne said.

Winners of the Sydney Hills Awards for Community Contribution will be announced a special Awards Function at the Orange Blossom Festival, Saturday 17 September, Castle Hill Showground.

“The Orange Blossom Festival is all about community, so what better way to celebrate everything we love most about The Hills than with the Community Contribution Awards ceremony on festival Saturday. This is one of my favourite events to attend because it highlights the important work that happens behind the scenes of our community,” Mayor Byrne said.

“I would sincerely encourage The Hills community to consider who they could nominate for an award and take the time to complete the application on our website. It is this kind of recognition that keeps our community contributors going and spurs them on to bigger and better things. Don’t under-estimate the value of your nomination.”
