A YEAR IN REVIEW

The responsibility of representing Hawkesbury and serving as a Minister in the NSW Government is something I never take for granted.

The Government I am part of has worked hard to get the state’s finances back on track, and NSW now has a budget in surplus, with no net debt hanging over NSW taxpayers.

This is only important because it means we can confidently invest in the infrastructure and services that NSW – and Hawkesbury – need. It has allowed us to launch a flurry of bricks-andmortar activity to deliver on our commitments.

So many of our day-to-day activities depend on good infrastructure. That’s why we are busting congestion with the new Windsor Bridge, Pitt Town bypass, upgrades to Old Northern Road, and the recently opened Richmond Road upgrade, which the Premier and I were pleased to unveil four years ahead of schedule.

We are investing in education for our children with a new, stateof- the-art agricultural school at Richmond; with the biggest ever financial investment in Hawkesbury schools; and with more funding for preschool and out-of-school care, to help busy families.

We are promoting Hawkesbury to Australia and the world with a $3 million tourism investment, the largest funding boost in Hawkesbury’s history, and with a new tourism strategy driven by the recently-established Hawkesbury Visitor Economy Advisory Committee.

We are building the next generation of healthcare services with a new hospital at Rouse Hill, and we are protecting the community from floods with funding to raise the Warragamba Dam wall after decades of procrastination.

We have brought access to hundreds of services into one convenient location at the Richmond Service NSW centre, and we are protecting our environment with a new recycling centre and a state-ofthe- art fire station, both at South Windsor.

In short, it has been a monumental year for projects that connect, protect and promote Hawkesbury.

But there is always more to do. I am excited for another big year in 2017, and I am determined to keep listening and to keep driving the projects that will make life even better for residents, businesses and visitors to Hawkesbury.
