RDA NSW NEPEAN CENTRE

Riding for the Disabled (NSW) Nepean Centre has literally been through ‘hell and high water’ this year. Everyone involved has been affected by the Sunday 5 June disaster, horses, riders and volunteers alike. RDA(NSW) Nepean Centre has always been proud of its friendly, inclusive atmosphere and this has proved invaluable to the healing process. Through all the devastation we have held on to our vision of the RDA(NSW) Mission to provide equine assisted activities to people with disabilities, to develop and enhance abilities.

With our future in mind we have decided to go ahead with our Annual Fundraiser which is our biggest fundraising drive of the year. It is also an opportunity for everyone to share in some fun and frivolity.

The theme is The Horse & Human Partnership and there will be riding demonstrations in many disciplines from Pony Club Gymkhana to Medieval knights on horseback. Internationally recognised trainer Scott Brodie will give a demonstration of contemporary horsemanship. Meet Australian WWI Light Horse & Western horses and riders. Learn about the field of Equine Facilitated Mental Health & Learning. There will also be demonstrations of what RDA(NSW) is all about, and fun activities for the kids including pony rides for the under 12’s.

We have been informed that our buildings and arenas are going to be out of commission until next year but despite this setback, we still have the grounds of the Samuel Marsden Road Riding Facility at Orchard Hills where RDA(NSW) Nepean operates. With the addition of some temporary infrastructure, and the support of so many dedicated and talented people our fundraiser is sure to be a great event.
