ROSS M. FEAR ALIVE 90.5 AUSTRALIAN SPECTRUM SHOW

Ross M Fear’s Australian Spectrum Show on Tuesday nights at 9:00 PM to 12:00 AM is a local radio program that celebrates the wonderful spectrum of talented musicians and performers in Australia. With a playlist of 100% Australian artists from blues and roots, folk, cool country, instrumental, jazz, surf rock and alternate rock genres, Austrlaian singer songwriters are always welcome.

The show features a studio guest every week that is an active artist on the Sydney music scene. In the seven years the show has been running Ross has interviewed over 300 artists. These have varied from new and emerging singersongwriters with their first album to established legends in music. Many artists have chosen the Alive 90.5 FM Australian Spectrum Show to launch their new EPs and albums. Some of the highlights have included Russel Morris’s previous album “Van Diemen’s Land”, Jeff Duff’s 27th album “Fragile Spaceman”, Anne Kirkpatrick’s 20th album “Annethology”, being the first radio show to broadcast the Bushwackers “Australian Songbook Vol. 3” as well as launching Kevin Johnson’s “Rock n Roll I Gave You The Best Years: The Ultimate Collection” double album, Mike McClellan’s last three albums and a live concert at the Basement. Many of the blues and roots artists launch their albums on the show. Major blues artists on the show have included launching albums for legendary artists like The Foreday Riders, The Bondi Cigars, Kevin Borich, The Backsliders, Dave
Tice, Jack Derwin, Bill Chambers, Cyril B Bunter Band, Wolf Mail, Stormcellar, Lazy Eye, Ross Ward’s Xpress, Claude Hay and many of the Blues Artists of The Year including Doggn It Blues, Chris O, Isaiah B Brunt, PJ O’Obrien, Dr. Don’s Double Dose, Liza Ohlback, Chris Turner, Blues Preachers, and so many more. The Alive 90.5 FM Australian Spectrum Show playlist also contributes to the Australian Blues & Roots Monthly Charts.

The popularity of the show is evident by its Facebook page receiving over 7,800 likes, all subscribing to hear next week’s studio guest announcement. This, combined with promotions at gigs and promotions by artistes has expanded the show’s profile in the music industry. Alive 90.5 FM broadcasts to the Northwest sector of Sydney from their Baulkham Hills studios and streams worldwide online allowing country, regional, interstate and international listeners
to catch the artist’s profiles and interviews.

Ross has had a lifelong interest in music, originally studying and playing lap steel guitar from the age of nine. He ran his first rock show with Clapham Junction & The Opal when he was still in high school, folk Concerts with Mike McClellan,
monthly rock shows at Castle Hill Showground with bands like AC-DC, Ted Mulry Gang, Black Knight, etc. to eventually helping reorganise the Chris Barber Jazz Band tour of Australia and being the promoter/ producer of the Queen’s Jubilee Jazz Concert at the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall and Quantastic Jubilee Jazz Week at Martin Place with artistes like Graeme Bell Allstrars, Monty Sunshine, Bob Barnard Jazz Band, Dick Hughes, Ray Price Jazz Quintet with Nancy Stewart and the Newington College Big Band.

Ross was awarded a Queen Silver Jubilee Medal for his contribution to music and the arts. He also did compilation albums for EMI Axis label that received critical acclaim – his first album with EMI was “Australian Jazz Spectrum” the title
from which was the basis of the
